The sunflower is the symbol of hope and homeland. This year the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM) marks the 100th anniversary globally and 75th anniversary of its existence in Calgary by praying and hoping for peace and a bright future for Ukraine and Ukrainians. Every year CYM paints Pysankas prior to Easter, nourishing the long lasting Ukrainian tradition.
Bio
Taras Voytkiv came to Calgary in 2016 from Zhydachiv, Ukraine and has ever since been a key pillar in the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM) and the whole Ukrainian community in Calgary. His work to further Ukrainian art, language and culture has helped build bridges between newcomer Ukrainians and the Canadian communities they now call home.
Technique
Crafted with precision, this 2.5-foot pysanka is molded from a durable, weather-resistant material, ensuring both longevity and resilience. The surface is carefully coated with plaster, then meticulously sanded to achieve a flawless, smooth finish, providing the perfect foundation for intricate decoration.

Delivery: All pysanky purchases are to be collected in person at Southcentre Mall prior to 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 27. All pysanky purchased but not collected will be shipped at the purchaser's cost using standard shipping rates. Purchasers will be responsible for taxes, duties, and all other shipping-related costs. Purchasers outside Alberta will be contacted with delivery instructions after their purchase is confirmed.
